Lying Triceps Extension

Triceps isolation with emphasis on the long head. A strong complement to pressing movements.

How to perform

  1. 1.Lie on a bench, bar over the chest, elbows pointing up and staying tucked
  2. 2.Lower to the forehead or behind the head on a controlled arc
  3. 3.Extend to full lockout without lifting the shoulders off the bench

Common mistakes

  • Elbows flaring out to the sides
  • Too heavy and losing control at the bottom

Tips

  • Start with an EZ bar or light barbell if elbows are sensitive

Limitations

Use caution with issues in: shoulders, elbows. If you feel discomfort, reduce the range of motion or swap the exercise — ideally after consulting a coach.
